Trip Overview

Trip Overview

This natural wonder of the world is a fantastic place to hone your photography skills and create new images. The Grand Canyon can be challenging to shoot, but we'll show you how to create quality images of this gorgeous national park in the American southwest. This trip takes place over 5 days in August, which is during monsoon season in northern Arizona. Storms are a plus for us as they'll bring drama to the skies & to your photographs. When we're not shooting, we'll spend time together editing photos and grabbing a bite to eat.
Oh Canada! What a fantastic place to take stunning photos, enjoy nature and improve your photography skills! This trip has been designed to cater to a small group of participants which affords you the opportunity to gain a ton of photography knowledge during our 9 days together in the Rockies. You'll find yourself immersed in some of the most beautiful scenery you've ever witnessed - towering peaks, emerald lakes and rivers and endless tree lines. Our trip is highly inclusive, all you have to do is show up, shoot and have a great time!

There is no transport included in this trip. You'll need to make your own way to the Grand Canyon. Once there, we encourage participants to carpool. Some of the shooting locations will be accessible via shuttle bus within the park.

Meals

Meals are not included in the price of your trip, but you're welcome to eat with our leaders and anyone else from the group. We'll show you the best places to eat around the Canyon village.

Accommodation

Accommodation is not included in the price of this trip. We've left it open so you can decide if you'd like to camp, or stay in a hotel. If you're opting for a hotel, we suggest any of the hotels in the South Rim village or the hotels in Tusayan. For cheaper hotels but a longer drive each day, you can also check Williams.

Insurance

Neither travel or equipment insurance is included in the price of your trip. However, proof of travel insurance is required and equipment insurance is very strongly recommended!

Day 1 - Hello Grand Canyon! (Trip Begins)

Today marks the first day of our time together at the Grand Canyon. We'll start off the day with an orientation meeting where we'll go over the nuts and bolts of the trip and get acquainted with our new trip mates. This afternoon we'll head to the rim for our first shooting session together. We'll shoot through sunset and head to dinner afterwards.

Days 2 - 4 - Grand Canyon National Park

During our 3 full days together at the Canyon, we'll shoot for a few hours each morning including sunrise. Once the light flattens out, we'll then take a break. If we have great conditions with storms rolling through, creating drama and bringing changing light and conditions then we'll keep on shooting! During your break you can grab lunch, rest, go for a hike, explore the south rim village, continue shooting or work on editing photos. We'll be available to help with editing photos in the off time. In the afternoon we'll head back out and shoot again through sunset. After a long day of shooting we'll grab dinner together (if you choose to join us).

Day 5 - Grand Farewell (Trip Ends)

We'll enjoy a final sunrise and morning shooting session together before wrapping up the trip. We'll be happy to sit down and go through and discuss images taken during the trip before we all part ways.

Physical Demands

We rate this trip easy in terms of physical demands. For the purposes of our shooting, we won't be descending down into the canyon. We'll utilize the rim trail and view points along the Canyon edge, so the amount of physical exertion required will be low. However, please note that the elevation around the south rim of the Grand Canyon is approximately 7,000 feet.
